STAND UP FOR QUALITY SERVICES!

Participation House Durham workers provide support to youth and adults living with physical and developmental disabilities and we are standing up for quality services and support for people in our community. When Participation House Durhamcan’t find enough employees, they turn to temporary staffing agencies to fill the gaps. No matter how good they are these temporary workers cannot provide the same level and continuity of care as a regular employee. They can not learn medication schedules, individual needs or build the trust that is essential to do our job and they cost more than regular workers.

When Participation House Durham relies on temporary staff

it is the individuals we support who suffer

So why is Participation House Durham trying to create new, lower paid jobs when they can’t find people to fill the existing jobs? It is unfair to the individuals we support, and it will lead to even lower quality services. Participation House Durham workers, represented by CUPE Local 2936, have come up with a plan that will lead to better results, creates better jobs and will not waste money on expensive staffing agencies. If you believe that people in our community with physical and developmental disabilities deserve quality services and support the visit cupe.on.ca/participationhouse to show your support by sending an email to the Executive Director and the Chair of the Board.
